2024 Nonprofit Leadership Academy

The goal of the Nonprofit Leadership Academy is to provide the skills and knowledge necessary to be an effective nonprofit or civic board member. Prospective and current board members, as well as nonprofit employees who are interested in leadership training are encouraged to apply. Classes will be held every Thursday, for eight weeks beginning May 21st and concluding August 20th, from 11:30am to 1:00pm. Lunch will be provided. All sessions will be held at the Foundation 919 S. Polk St.

Gain the knowledge you need to be an effective board member. This series of eight, bi-weekly classes will cover the topics of, Introduction to Nonprofits, Board Governance, Fundraising, Financial Responsibility, Legal Issues, Must-Have Documents, and Nonprofit vs. Civic Leadership.

The lead instructor for the series is Roxann Ball, Program Officer of the Amarillo Area Foundation Nonprofit Service Center. Roxann has over 25 years of nonprofit management, accounting, and fundraising experience and has been an employee of the foundation for the last fifteen years. Roxann has served on numerous nonprofit boards and committees and is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree.

At the conclusion of the training, participants will receive a certificate of completion. The registration fee of $125.00 includes all materials and lunches.
