Nonprofit Leadership Academy (Cohort A)

The goal of the Nonprofit Leadership Academy (Cohort A) is to reach out to under-represented sections of our community and prepare individuals to serve on nonprofit or civic boards. We are specifically seeking young community members, community members of color, and those who do not have board experience. You must be able to attend each session from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm on the third Tuesday of the month, February through September 2022. Note: The March meeting will be held on the second Tuesday of the month (3/8/22) to avoid a conflict with spring break.

Gain the knowledge you need to be an effective board member. This series of eight, monthly classes will cover the topics of, Introduction to Nonprofits, Board Governance, Fundraising, Financial Responsibility, Legal Issues, Must-Have Documents, and Nonprofit vs. Civic Leadership.

The lead instructor for the series is Roxann Ball, Program Officer of the Amarillo Area Foundation Nonprofit Service Center. Roxann has over 25 years of nonprofit management, accounting, and fundraising experience and has been an employee of the foundation for the last fifteen years. Roxann has served on numerous nonprofit boards and committees and is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree.

At the conclusion of the training, participants will receive a certificate of completion and enjoy a graduation celebration with the opportunity to connect with community leaders. The registration fee of $125.00 includes all materials and lunches. A limited number of partial scholarships are available.

If you feel you do not meet the above eligibility requirements but are still interested in the leadership training, please consider enrollment in the Nonprofit Leadership Academy (Cohort B) which will start in April 2022.
