Profile of a Scholar: Cadence Brown

Cadence Brown, a young and talented music enthusiast who recently graduated from Canyon High School, shines as a 2025 recipient of the Senator Grady and Andrine Hazlewood Scholarship. This scholarship awards students who demonstrate academic excellence, and motivation to succeed. Throughout high school, Cadence participated in the Canyon High School Drama Club, the TMEA All-State Choir, and worked part-time as a gymnastics coach. Cadence credits the foundation for her love of music back to her faith as she is heavily involved in her church’s praise team and youth ministry. In her thank you letter, she shares that this scholarship is a tremendous blessing—one that eases her family’s financial burden and allows her to focus on her goals. As a Future educator and performer, Cadence now attends West Texas A&M University as a double major in vocal performance and music education. Music has been her therapy and shaped Cadence’s life in countless ways. She hopes to share that same joy with others through both teaching and performing.
