Disaster philanthropy is vital when faced with the unexpected and the Foundation has witnessed the Concho Valley respond with heartfelt generosity. When an incident occurs that is declared a disaster by a governmental official, like the mayor, county judge, governor, etc., Foundation Disaster Funds can provide support.

The Foundation is working with local Community Organizations Active in Disasters (COAD) groups to assist in determining need and the best way to quickly provide financial support.

Why Donate to a Community Foundation During a Disaster?

Community foundations are uniquely positioned to respond effectively in times of crisis. With deep local knowledge, trusted relationships, and a long-term commitment to the region, a community foundation can direct resources where they are needed most—quickly and responsibly. They work closely with frontline nonprofits, local leaders, and government partners to assess urgent needs and coordinate relief efforts, ensuring donations go directly to support impacted individuals and communities. Because they are place-based and mission-driven, they not only help with immediate response, but also stay engaged for the long road of recovery and rebuilding. When you give to a community foundation during a disaster, you’re investing in both rapid relief and long-term resilience—right at home.
