This list is meant to give you an overview of the scholarships available. When filling out the application, you will select the scholarships for which you qualify.

You will only fill out ONE application.  

Amarillo Handgunners Association fbo The Bill Goodson Memorial Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors in the northernmost 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle that are actively involved in shooting sports and activities. The recipient may attend any accredited college/university and may choose any field of study and must remain in good standing while attending.

Hope Choice Pregnancy Center Scholarship in Memory of Jacky Hall

For current or former clients of Hope Choice (formerly CareNet) Pregnancy Center, with preference given to students who plan to attend Amarillo College or West Texas A&M University. Recipient must be a mother to a child or a birth mother of a child placed for adoption, following a pregnancy test received at CareNet. Applicants must include a letter from CareNet staff verifying their status as a current or former client. Recipient must maintain a GPA of 2.5 while receiving the award.

Henry Hamilton Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors or currently enrolled college students from the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who plan to major in Engineering or Environmental Science. The recipient may attend the school of his/her choice.

Jack and Marci McMicken Scholarship Fund

Limited to members or immediate family members of the Amarillo Bowling Association, the Amarillo Women’s Bowling Association, and the Amarillo Young Bowling Alliance. This scholarship does not use the AAF general application.

Jack B. Weinberger Memorial Scholarship

For graduating seniors from the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle. The recipient may attend any accredited college/university, but must major in the field of health care and must have a 3.0 or higher to apply.

Jake Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund for the Learning Disabled

Graduating seniors from the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas Panhandle. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 to be eligible to apply. They must exhibit integrity, ambition, good moral character and a strong desire to achieve a higher level of education. Demonstrate the ability to overcome obstacles caused by the learning disability. Demonstrate a high standard of values, such as loyalty to friends, family, and faith. Major in field of choice at any college/university of choice.

John S. Stiff Governmental Services Scholarship

Restricted to employees of the City of Amarillo, Texas, his or her spouse or the child of an employee, or a present or prior elected official of the City of Amarillo, who are pursuing a college degree in vocational training, technical training or a college degree related to municipal government. Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA

L. Ray Vahue Scholarship

Restricted to City of Amarillo employees, spouses, children, or grandchildren of the employee. Recipient may apply each year to receive the scholarship again.

The Howard D. Graves Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors in the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who plan to attend a school within the Texas A&M System and major in any field of study. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to apply. Maintain a 3.0 or better cumulative GPA while in college

The Ed and Judy Grabber Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund

For graduating high school seniors from the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who are majoring in Agriculture or Education. They may attend any institution and must have a 3.0 GPA to apply. Must maintain a 2.5 GPA in college.

The Nancy Gerald Memorial Nursing Scholarship

For Sophomore, Junior, Senior and Graduate level college students from the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle accepted in the nursing program at Amarillo College or West Texas A&M University.

Alvin A. and Hattie Mae Bush Accounting Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors or currently enrolled college students who reside in the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle. Must plan to major or are majoring in Accounting and attend Amarillo College, Texas Tech University, or West Texas A&M University.

Benjamin Gimp Raffkind Memorial Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors in the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who plan to attend Amarillo College or West Texas A&M University. Any student with a GPA of 80 or better (on a 100 point scale) may apply.

Association of Information Technology Professionals Scholarship

For residents in the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who plan to attend West Texas A&M University or Amarillo College and major in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science.

Bob and Lanna Hatton Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors from the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who wish to major in the field of Education. Recipients may attend the college/university of his/her choice. Maintain a 3.2 or better cumulative GPA while in college

Brandy Lee Leard Memorial Scholarship

The Brandy Lee Leard Memorial Scholarship will provide a scholarship(s) to graduating high school seniors, currently enrolled college students, returning college students, or GED certificate holders from the northernmost 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who are expecting a baby or who are actively involved in parenting their child and have the desire to obtain a post-secondary education. Recipients must maintain 2.5 cum GPA. Recipients attending a trade/vocational or community college can receive up to $1,500 per semester and recipients attending an accredited college/university can receive up to $3,500 per semester.

Dr. Charles and Phyllis Seward Scholarship

For a working, graduating high school senior in the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle, with priority given to Native American applicants. The recipient must attend Amarillo College or West Texas A&M University and major in any field of study.

Fred Woodward Endowed Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors or currently enrolled college students in the State of Texas who are the children of dues paying members of the Texas Seed Trade Association. The recipient may attend any accredited college/university and may choose any field of study.

Guyon Saunders Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors or currently enrolled college students who are the children, stepchildren, or grandchildren of employees of Marsh ClearSight formerly CS Stars/Corporate Systems Inc. Employees must be employed at least 2 years prior to the date of family member’s application. Maintain a 3.2 or better cumulative GPA while in college; and
Attend any accredited college/university and major in field of choice.

Heather Nicole Moseley Memorial Scholarship

For college students from the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who are currently enrolled in and pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy (the Pre and Assistant programs also apply) or Sports and Exercise Science with the intent to seek an advanced degree in Physical or Occupational Therapy at Amarillo College, West Texas A&M University, Texas Tech University, or the University of Texas. Applicants have have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be eligible to apply and must maintain a GPA of 3.0.

Love Your Neighbor Scholarship

For seniors who are active in community leadership and in their church. Application requires a letter from youth minister/pastor. Prefer Christian-based degrees. Available for students from the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle and student must attend WTAMU or Amarillo College. Maintain a 3.0 or better cumulative GPA while in college

Robert A. "Bob" and Margaret W. Kesterson Scholarship

For a student in the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who plans to attend or is attending Amarillo College or West Texas A&M University and major in any field of study. Applicants must be employed during high school, and it is anticipated that the recipient will work while going to college. Must have minimum 2.0 GPA to apply.

Senator Grady and Andrine Hazlewood Scholarship

Top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle. Must attend Amarillo College, WTAMU or Texas Tech. Eligibilty to apply include 3.2 GPA (high school) and to renew must maintain 2.8 GPA (college)

Elesa Crump Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund

For graduating high school seniors or currently enrolled/returning college or graduate students from the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who have a documented physical or learning disability. Recipients must attend Amarillo College or West Texas A&M University.

Teresa Engler Raizen Scholarship Fund

For Cactus Feeders or Spike Box Ranch employees, their spouses, or their children who are upper level college students (Junior/Senior classification) or graduate students. Must have a 3.0 or greater cumulative GPA to apply. Must enroll each semester for at least 6 hrs for graduate students and 12 hours for undergraduate students.

Panhandle Restaurant Association Scholarship Fund

For graduating high school seniors from the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who are currently employed at a restaurant. Recipients may attend any accredited college/university. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 to be eligible to apply

Texas Panhandle General Scholarship Fund

For college students and returning college students of the 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle. Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 while in college. Applicants must attend a college that is located within the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle and can major in any postsecondary program of study resulting in a certificate or degree, from the Associate through Doctorate level. Must enroll in 6 credit hours/semester for undergraduate studies or 3 credit hours/semester for graduate studies.

C.C. "Bus" and Freda Dugger Endowed Scholarship Fund

Must have graduated from a high school in top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle and be a sophomore college student who will be attending West Texas A&M University for their junior year. Must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA to apply and must maintain a cummulative GPA of 3.0. Must be enrolled as a full-time student.

Heather Hinkle Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund

For current college students who have completed 25% of a four year degree. Must have graduated from a high school within the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle. Students that have completed a bachelor’s degree and are continuing in a medical education are eligible. Applicant must have received a cancer diagnosis prior to their 18th birthday. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to apply.

Scott Riola Memorial Scholarship Fund

For current flight nurses from the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who plan to advance their education. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be eligible to apply. Applicants must hold one of the following flight certifications: CEN, CCRN, or CFRN. Maintain a 3.5 or better cumulative GPA while in college

For current flight nurses from the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who plan to advance their education. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be eligible to apply.
