The Panhandle Companions Fund supports the health and welfare of companion animals across the Texas Panhandle by strengthening the nonprofit organizations caring for them every day.
Launched through Amarillo Area Foundation, the Fund promotes compassionate, sustainable, and community-centered solutions for animal welfare across all 26 counties of the region.
In the Spring of 2026, the Panhandle Companions Fund successfully completed its first public fundraising campaign in support of animal welfare efforts across the Panhandle through community giving and a generous matching challenge from founding donors Stuart and Chancy West.
In the summer of 2026, The Panhandle Companions Fund will launch its first competitive grant cycle focused on strengthening the long-term sustainability and resilience of animal welfare organizations serving the Texas Panhandle. Initial grant funding will prioritize capacity-building efforts such as board development and training, strategic planning, volunteer recruitment and appreciation, donor engagement, collaboration, and other organizational investments that help nonprofits grow stronger and serve more effectively over time.
By investing in the people, leadership, and infrastructure behind this work, the Fund seeks to help build a more sustainable and connected future for companion animal welfare across the Texas Panhandle region.
