From 2011 to 2024, Clay Stribling led the Amarillo Area Foundation as President and CEO through transformative achievements, including doubling its assets, which brought greater support for impactful projects across the Texas Panhandle.
Clay championed the need for Amarillo Area Foundation’s current home, which provided space for nearly 120 nonprofit events free of charge in its first full year of opening its doors, and a robust center for nonprofit professionals to learn and convene. As an advocate for education, he worked with Amarillo College and Frank Phillips College to create meaningful scholarship opportunities for students who would otherwise be unable to attend college. He was instrumental in the formation of the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine, West Texas A&M University Downtown Campus, and the state mental health hospital in Amarillo. He set the tone for responding to area disasters by proactively and strategically building partnerships within the top 26 counties. He spearheaded The Panhandle Gives campaign, which has raised over $40 million as of 2024 to support organizations in all 26 counties of the Foundation’s service area.
Clay valued the importance of long-term sustainability and regional impact in the Texas Panhandle. It is only fitting to honor Clay’s legacy at the Amarillo Area Foundation through an endowment that will sustain the foundation’s work for years to come.
